In Stari Grad as a part of HRZZ AdriaCos project, excavations were conducted during October and November in the area south of the city walls of ancient Faros. The results represent an important step forward in the context of material culture and funeral rites, especially the discovery of the iron sword and dagger, the first finds of this type on the island of Hvar. They were unearthed among numerous burnt bones, fragments of pottery, glass beads and coins. Preliminary analysis of the sword, i.e. Greek kopis (κοπίς), and fragments of red-figure pottery places them in the 4th century BCE, while more details will be known after the conservation and in-depth scientific analysis that is currently underway.
