In October, archaeological excavations within the AdriaCos project continued in the area south of ancient Faros, in Stari Grad on the island of Hvar. The first results provide the material remains of a previously unknown ancient complex, along the southwestern edge of Starigradsko polje, with basins that are assumed to have an economic and processing function. Fragments of painted frescoes and mosaic tessaerae could also indicate the existence of a residential part of the complex, while small movable finds such as fishhooks, loom weights and fragments of beehives speak of the activities of its inhabitants. However, the mentioned pools cut through an earlier, monumental structure possibly connected to another segment of the Greek rampart of Pharos which will be confirmed by the continuation of the research!
