During April 2021, an archaeological field survey was carried out on the island of Hvar, with the help of human remains detection dogs (HRD) or cadaver dogs. In pursuit of the necropolis of the Greek town of Pharos and that of the local Iron Age community of Hvar, the target areas were surveyed with the help of a CCK team, S.PAS center dogs (Belgian Shepherd Panda and Mali, Belgian Shepherd Pepper and German Shepherd Arwen) under the leadership of Chris Nikolić and Dr.Vedrana Glavaš (Department of Archeology, University of Zadar), currently the only trained biodetectors in the Republic of Croatia, successfully used as a non-invasive method in archaeological research. The application of this innovative method is carried out as part of the research activities of the CRSF AdriaCos project, in search of necropolises that hide data on the dynamic identities and transformations of Hvar communities. Along with the PI, Dr. Marina Ugarković, and members of the CCK9 team, the archaeologists on the field were: Andrea Devlahović, Dr. Sara Popović, Eduard Visković, with the help of Dr. Aldo Čavić and Mr. sc. Vinko Tarbušković. It is the first time that the cadaver dogs have investigated the archaeology of a central Dalmatian island, during which completely new data has been successfully collected, which will be evaluated in-depth in the continuation of the activities of the AdriaCos project.
